His story was a bit scary, but he’s a nice grandpa. He said that if it’s hard to break the pepper stones, that I can bring them to him.

Upon saying so, grandpa swung down the stone hammer and the pepper stone broke. It really did break.

 

[You’re amazing~. That didn’t break no matter how much I hit it, you know. Grandpa, you’re truly great.]

 

He can break it in one shot. His face is full of wrinkles, his hair is pure white and he looks like an elder, but his arms are certainly thick. When I was so moved and repeatedly praised how amazing he was, grandpa stopped his hand and looked at me.

 

[Humph. Well, if I’m being praised that much then even I will get carried away.]

[……About what? Oh, was I too loud? Sorry.]

 

I might have been too noisy. When I lowered my head and apologized, grappa laughed.

 

[That’s not it. You are really a Reincarnator, aren’t you.]

[What do you mean?]

[That’s because all the people here are men. Everybody else can do what I can, and what everybody else can do, I can as well. Even if we have our strengths and weaknesses, it’s nothing to be excited about. Especially something like this.]

 

Elder swung the stone hammer as he said that and with a whoosh, he struck the pepper stone. The stone easily broke with a cracking sound.

[I’ve never gotten a turn for the Ceremony. However, I have seen a colleague’s wife. Of course, he’s a Reincarnator. That person was really bad at chopping wood, and he couldn’t hold the ax. Since the husband was fishing and he was having a hard time, I’ve chopped some for him before. When I did, he also clapped his hands in delight like you now.]

 

I see. All the tools here are made for the men in this world. Well, I guess that’s natural. All the men here have bodies like Saine’s. The tools made for the men here are hard for me to use. If it’s hard for me then it must be harder for granny and the others. 

 

[We aren’t used to being complimented that much. But, it doesn’t feel bad. Just praise and flatter your husband like that to make him move.]

 

I didn’t understand what was being said so I tilted my head.

 

[Well, you don’t really have to calculate anything. Just do what your heart tells you.]

[As my heart tells me?]

[That’s right. Do what it wants to do. Move where it wants to. That’s the direction you should move to and is heaven’s guidance.]

[Grandpa, you’re so poetic.]

 

I don’t really understand what he means but his words settled quietly in my heart.

 

[This is how fishermen live in the sea. We look at the direction of the sun and the flow of the current if we’re lost in the ocean, but that’s not all. There’s something called the voice of the heart. It’s heaven’s voice saying to proceed here, not logic.]

 

After grandpa said that, he laughed loudly.

 

Grandpa smashed all the pepper stones at home. All that’s left is to grind it. He truly helped me a lot. It was about time to smash them all up, but it was really hard for me to break the stones. I wanted to repay him with something so I drew some water. Grandpa is strong but his waist is weak. It seems that he has been sitting down often because of his livelihood as a fisherman, he gets severe pain in his lower back when he draws water.

As thanks, I filled the bathtub in grandpa’s house with water. Because it’s hard to draw water, he can’t take a bath. He apparently always only dashes himself with water, but I think that a hot bath is better. It’s also good for the waist.

 

[If Grandpa doesn’t dislike it, I will come and bring you water every day.]

[Why, I’d be grateful, but isn’t it be troublesome?]

[Not at all. I don’t work and all I do is prepare meals. Besides, I think drawing water will be good training.] (TN: MC said this in English)

Grandpa joked and opened both of his eyelids wide with his fingers. Grandpa’s pupils are a surprising vivid blue. The two of us cackled in laughter. This is the first time that I laughed this hard with a person from this world ever since I came here.
