The mission this time was set during ancient times in an alternate dynasty. The original host was the most beautiful woman in the world. Both her parents died when she was a child. Her father was the richest man in Jiangnan. Her mother and Marquis Zhenbei¹Protector/guard of the north were siblings born of the first wife. After the death of her parents, the original host was taken to live in the marquis manor by her uncle Marquis Zhenbei.

Marquis Zhenbei was a master of martial arts. He was the emperor’s trusted minister and the grand military marshal of the most powerful Chu State. Madam Zhenbei had been weak and sickly since she was a child. She died after only a few years of marriage. This inspired many people to try and take her place. Marquis Zhenbei has been hesitant to marry again because he was afraid that his next wife would abuse his little niece.

The original host was raised by the nannies and maids in the manor. Because Marquis Zhenbei had a rough appearance, the original host was instigated from a young age by those around her to feel very adversely towards her uncle. She even felt disgusted by his love, but her uncle felt that his niece was too young and so didn’t hold it against her. Her every request was never refused.

Coincidentally, the old emperor was in poor health, and the crown prince and King Huai²The Chinese is 亲王 (qīn wánɡ) which can be the emperor’s uncle, brother, son, nephew etc. were openly and secretly fighting. The crown prince’s claim to the throne was legitimate and he had deep roots, so King Huai set his sights on the original host. He bribed the maids and nannies to frequently speak well of him to the original host, causing secret feelings to bloom in her heart.

Marquis Zhenbei investigated and discovered King Huai to be scheming and ambitious. He didn’t want his niece to marry over and suffer, but the original host threw a fit. She used her own life to make Marquis Zhenbei agree.

Marquis Zhenbei feared that after seizing the throne, the crown prince would turn against King Huai and his niece, so he assisted King Huai in seizing the throne. After King Huai became emperor, he plotted the assassination of Marquis Zhenbei, and the marquis manor was massacred and fell to ruin. The original host had no more support and was killed by the harem’s other concubines.

After the original host died, she resented her own blind perception that dragged her uncle down with her. She also resented King Huai for being so cruel.

Thus, the second mission was: pursue Uncle Marquis Zhenbei, and let him no longer be all alone in the world.

This mission seemed a little difficult. After all, there was a direct blood relation involved, so careful planning would be needed.
